![]() now that I think of it, one of my image organizing/editing applications = ACDSee Photo Professional Version keeps its device detector service running and it detects supposedly only the devices I have "introduced" it to, namely my digital cameras and certain named SD cards, so it can unload, create a file for, and auto-rename my photos per my scripts.Īs I siad, I can shut them all down, and also disable any that have services installed - I'd have to set them back to "Manual" and then manually "Stop" the services individually. Perhaps even good old Microsoft ActiveSync - the biggest device detecting hog spftware in the world. Eg, Nero 7 Ultra Edition, or Roxio EMC8 Deluxe. I normally have other applications which monitor connected devices just like Olyumpus's detector service does, so it is no surprise that there is a conflict. Have you seen any similar errors before, regarding the DS-4000 Device Detector? Of course I can always just disable everything and then start them along with the DS-4000 one at a time to see which is the culprit, but if you have seen it before you might be able to save me a little time and trouble! The only reason I can think of for that to happen is that another application is grabbing that resource before the DM1Service is starting up. I have not yet tried using the /AUXSOURCE= flag, but I doubt that the registry is missing the description commands - I suspect it is more likely that the OdiO1DVR.dll file is timing out because it is not able to access a necessary resource - either another DLL file or driver. The following information is part of the event: Service started. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description see Help and Support for details. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display message from a remote computer. The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( DM1Service ) cannot be found. The Application log event shows as a DM1Service Event ID 0 and states: Timed out sending notification of device interface change to window of "OdiO1DVR" The System log event shows as a PlugPlayManager Event ID 256 and states the following: While diagnosing this, I found two related error messages, one in the Event Viewer under the System log, and the other under the Application log. I checked and DM1Service is registered just fine on this PC, and it is Enabled, Automatic, and it was correctly "Started" as it should have been. Troubleshooting tips indicate that the most common cause for the Device Detector not functioning correctly - or at all - is that the service DM1Service is not registered in "Services". I am investigating reasons for the Device Detecor not functioning, and I have it narrowed down to most likely a conflict with another application - or another Service - on my machine here. However I can open the software manually and also download my files from the device manually just fine. When I cradle the recorder, the Dictation Module is not loaded automatically. The icon for it is visible on the Sys Tray, but neither right nor left clicking on it does anything at all. However the Device Detector is not functioning at all.
